Since 1979, the Copernicus Foundation sponsors the annual “TASTE OF POLONIA FESTIVAL” lasting four days over Labor Day weekend.  Many city blocks are closed around the COPERNICUS CENTER to accommodate the festival’s many inclusions.

The festival offers a wide variety of live entertainment on four stages, great Polish cuisine and “fest food”, over 30 local and international bands playing a variety of genres [ rock, jazz, pop, polka, reggie], Casino, many vendors, and Kid’s Zone.

In addition, the festival includes many cultural offerings.  Performances by ethnic dancers and musical groups, original arts and crafts, handiwork, imported items, as well as exhibits familiarizing festival goers with many aspects of Polish customs, culture, traditions and language. Each day is started by a Polka Band.  It has grown to be the largest Polish Fest in the country; visited by over 30,000 annually.

Festival participants not only include Chicagoans, but residents of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and farther.

The “Tribute Stage” is known for featuring some of Chicago’s TOP talent. Popular bands include:  Tributosaurus, American English, Rico, Wedding Banned, Gentlemen of Leisure (who have also performed at the White House & parties for Hilary Clinton & other well known government representatives).
