About the Copernicus Foundation
The Copernicus Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1971 to serve Chicago as a cultural, educational, and community center. Its mission is to support Polish heritage, local communities, and the performing arts.
- Founded in 1971 to support cultural and community initiatives in Chicago.
- Originally created to fund the Nicolaus Copernicus monument, unveiled in 1973.
- In 1979, the Foundation purchased the historic Gateway Theatre.
