The Polkaholics

Since 1997, The Polkaholics have been blending polka and rock into a fast, energetic, and unique sound. Their music combines traditional polka rhythms with the power of a rock trio. The band creates a style that connects the beergarden with the mosh pit. As noted by the Chicago Sun-Times, they amaze audiences by redefining both genres. Their repertoire includes classics like “Beer Barrel Polka” and “Chicken Dance.” It also features original songs such as “Polkas on Guitar” and “Blue Haired Lady.” Every performance is built around fun and high energy. With glittery outfits and wild stage presence, they create a true “life of the party” atmosphere.

The band was founded in 1997 by Dandy Don Hedeker, who plays guitar and sings. Instead of a typical mid-life crisis, he chose to start a polka-rock band. Blitz Linster joined in 2012 on bass and vocals, adding speed and power. Action Jackson Wilson joined in 2001 on drums and vocals, strengthening the band’s rhythm.

The Polkaholics have released several CDs and won multiple Chicago Music Awards. They have been recognized as Best Polka Entertainers many times. Their latest album, “Say YES to Oktoberfest,” was released in 2023. The band has appeared on TV and radio. They have performed across the United States and Canada. They have also toured Europe and played at major festivals, including polkaBEATS in Germany. Today, The Polkaholics continue to lead a fun and energetic polka revolution.
